Class
Beginner Projects - Developing skills
Pre-requisite
One of the Beginner Basics classes OR sewing experience and ability that matches the goals of the Beginner Basics classes
We will reinforce sewing skills by making a drawstring bag! These are sturdy and attractive bags that you can use or give as gifts. We will supply the cording and twill tape; you select and bring the fabric for the bag.
Supplies to bring
¾ yard fabric for outer bag (washed, dried, and ironed)
¾ yard fabric for inner lining of bag (washed, dried, and ironed)
Choose two fabrics that complement one another.
We recommend either cotton canvas fabric or outdoor fabric. They’re both stronger fabrics and will make a sturdier bag. However, if you find regular cotton fabric that you much prefer, just also purchase some lightweight fusible interfacing that we can iron on to your cotton fabric to strengthen it.
Joann Fabric and Crafts, Hobby Lobby, and Michael’s are great places to look for fabric.

About the Instructor
Miss Laurie Dillard
I took a sewing class at Northpark Mall in Dallas when I was 10 and immediately fell in love with the art of sewing. Since then, I’ve enjoyed many hours on the sewing machine, making home crafts as well as apparel. For several years I taught sewing classes to our homeschool co-op and love helping others gain competence and confidence in sewing.
