Beginner Basics - Intro to sewing

IMG_0018.JPG

This 3 hour class is a great introduction (or refresher) for those interested in learning basic hand sewing and machine sewing skills. Our goals for this class are to learn:

  • basic hand stitching

  • safety practices in the sewing room

  • parts and uses of the machine

  • upper thread and bobbin threading on the machine

  • operation of the machine (straight and zigzag stitches)

  • fabric preparation, including cutting, ironing, and pinning

Taking one of the Beginner Basics classes will prepare you for the Beginner Project classes.
You can also choose to take both of the Beginner Basics classes for extra practice and a
different project.

All supplies and materials are provided for this class, just bring yourself and a smile!

About the Instructor

Miss Laurie Dillard

I took a sewing class at Northpark Mall in Dallas when I was 10 and immediately fell in love with the art of sewing. Since then, I’ve enjoyed many hours on the sewing machine, making home crafts as well as apparel. For several years I taught sewing classes to our homeschool co-op and love helping others gain competence and confidence in sewing.
