Fashion Designer
EMILY PEREZ
I absolutely LOVE working with my hands to bring beautiful designs to life! As a small child I would sketch hundreds of dresses, wishing I had a magic wand to turn them into reality. In 2015 I had the privilege of attending the University of North Texas to receive my B.F.A. in Fashion Design, which gave me an excellent foundation for patternmaking, garment construction, quality craftsmanship, and experience with industrial equipment. As a student intern and then as a graduate I worked for a couture designer in Dallas and gained hands on experience in the world of custom design for bridal and formalwear. I then worked for a nonprofit in Dallas equipping refugee women with vocational skills by designing, creating, and supervising the production of a women's and children's clothing line. Throughout the years following school I made custom wedding dresses for two friends as well as myself and then started getting booked for bridal alterations from home! AHEM was born out of the realization that the decrease in tailors today is resulting in an increased demand for trusted bridal tailors. Altering bridal gowns has given me even more opportunity to understand and examine many different approaches to design, construction and fabric choice. My hope is to take your vision and create beautiful custom pieces that reflect your unique style, body, and personality. In a world of AI and incredible digital technology, it is a gift to be able to work in such a tangible and physical craft. This is a special journey to embark on and I am excited to accompany you!

Strapless Beaded & Floral Lace Gown
When Giovanni proposed to me in August of 2021, I knew I would regret not creating my own wedding gown. From a selection of bridal fabrics and lace sourced in the Dallas fabric district along with a stunning beaded lace tulle found on Etsy, I chose to create a fitted corset bodice with a sweetheart neckline and natural waist with a full A-line skirt and detachable train. I started with a champagne colored foundation and added layers of tulle and three different styles of beaded and lace fabrics, sewn by machine and by hand. The dress consists of over 100 pieces cut & sewn with individual lace flowers hand placed and sewn around the hem and bodice.

A-line gown with a sweetheart beaded lace bodice
Ashton knew exactly what she wanted for her bridal gown and trusted me to execute her vision. We created her custom pattern with a neckline and bodice to give the most flattering and romantic silhouette. She found a unique beaded lace with a geometric pattern and some floral lace that she loved. I hand placed and sewed the lace fabrics to the bodice and onto the spaghetti straps. In the end, we changed out her original lining for a much lighter fabric to give the dress that airy movement and ensure her comfort through the evening.
